Among the amendments to be made to the municipal code are the clarification that “prohibited” and “an offense” will include “causing, permitting, aiding, abetting, suffering or concealing” in an act that is prohibited and considered an offense; and that the penalties will be adjusted to a $500 maximum (down from $1,000) in order to match the current city charter bylines. Attached to the staff report was a draft Operations Plan developed by Code Enforcement. “This plan contemplates the involvement and cooperation of both the Code Enforcement and Inglewood Police Department who will be tasked with jointly enforcing applicable laws related ‘illegal fireworks’ via the Administrative Citation process and as outlined,” states the staff report. The plan will focus enforcement efforts on July 4 between 5 p.m.-midnight and will assign three Code Enforcement officers to strategic positions throughout sections of the city with high incidents of illegal activity use.
