District No. 4 Councilman Ralph L. Franklin fully supported the application efforts, but had questions regarding the City’s outreach to local nonprofits. “We did mailings and phone contacts and engaged other nonprofits that we know provide Wowser Schnauzers Happy Tails Luna’s found a new home! would be thrilled to be my forever family. Come to adoptions and check it out for yourself.” If you’re interested in Warren, please email info@msfr.org for more information. “Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ruthie. I am a four-year old female Miniature Schnauzer mix who has recently been abandoned by my previous owner. When my previous owner put my two three-month-old pups and me in the car, we thought we were going to have a Bonsai We are looking for volunteers to help with our pet adoption fairs which are held every Saturday at the Petco located at 537 N. If you have any questions about a particular dog’s availability, you can email us at info@msfr.org. Schnauzers! Bet you can’t adopt just one! “Hello, I’m Warren. I’m a rakishly handsome four-year old male who is either a purebred Miniature Schnauzer or has a smidgen of a mix. I was out playing in the puddles after the rain when I ended up at an LA shelter as a stray. I obviously was having a great time because I was a really dirty mess when I arrived. The shelter listed me as a Terrier mix because my coat has a slight tan color, but I have a docked tail, natural ears and that irresistible Schnauzer’s face! I consider myself lucky because the MSFR folks were actually at the shelter for another dog when they came across me and…once again, it was the face that captured their attention. I’m 23 pounds, which makes me kind of a big guy, but I can still sit on your lap and cuddle--and I’m the perfect size to take everywhere. I have a great personality and get along well with other dogs. I’ve been told that I’m a real sweetie pie. I think you fun excursion. You can imagine my horror when we arrived at a shelter and I discovered that they intended to surrender me but keep my puppies! Thankfully a ‘fairy godmother’ intervened and said she would find me a home. My previous owners relinquished ownership and left with the last puppies I’ll ever have. The fairy godmother contacted her friends at MSFR and they took pity on my plight. They have been absolutely wonderful to me and I am so grateful. They think that I’m mostly Schnauzer--which would account for my beautifully expressive eyes--but the mix is still undetermined. I have a gorgeous plume of a tail, so perhaps the mix is Lhasa Apso--but I can’t guarantee! I’ve been examined, spayed and they even did a dental, so now my teeth are pearly white. I’m a very sweet petite gal, but can be a tad shy at initial meet and greets. That said, after the introduction I warm up to both dogs and people very quickly. I am 14 pounds of love and gratitude and would be an excellent addition to your family.” If you’re interested in Ruthie, please email info@msfr.org for more information. “If you are familiar with the Japanese art form of Bonsai, you will understand how I came by my name. I was named Bonsai because I’m a diminutive (10-pound), delicate, eightyear old, female purebred Chihuahua. I have beautiful brown eyes that contrast nicely with my cream-colored coat. I was rescued from an LA county shelter the end of June 2016 and thought I had found my forever home. Sadly, my adopter passed away unexpectedly and I was returned to my rescuer. I am, once again, looking for a home that will give as much love to me as I have for them. I have a sweet personality, a gentle temperament and I adore people. My favorite pastime is snuggling on your lap and giving kisses--of which I have an endless supply!” Bonsai can be seen by appointment at Yellow Brick Road Doggie Playcare in El Segundo. Call 310-606-5507, or email southbaydoggie@ hotmail.com for an appointment or more information. • Congratulations to Luna and her new family. Luna is our rescue that had pyometra, a potentially fatal condition when ignored, which was taken care of when she was spayed. This lovely gal was initially spotted on Facebook by previous adopters who once had a 15-year-old Cocker Spaniel mix named Luna. After the first Luna passed away, they adopted MSFR alumnus Brock in 2014 and have been looking for a sister for him. When they came across the new Luna, it was kismet and now the happy family is living in Beaumont. Not only does Luna have a great brother, but also Mom’s retired and home all day to shower them with love and plenty of attention. Wishing everyone tons of happiness and many fun adventures. • Paratransit Services from front page similar services that we are in and were not able to find any,” Barnes said. “We also reached out to agencies that we do know that in the past were able to provide said services, who may or may not have had the capacity, but we did not receive any responses back. They were invited to appear here today if they had any concerns or wanted to weigh in.” Without a nonprofit stepping forward, the City will apply for the grant. If it is approved, Inglewood will continue to run the program on its own. However, it will upgrade to a fleet that is more dependable and will be operated by staff and drivers hired and paid for by the City. •
