We have gone after this application before and we were successful in expanding our fleet, but with this application we will be able to replace those vehicles.” At the moment, the City provides 8,000 rides each year through a fleet of eight paratransit buses and three vans. The current vehicles operate through funds provided by the Los Angeles County Transit Authority (Metro), Prop A and Prop C. If approved, the grant would enable the City to fund the replacement of eight vehicles with Metro providing 80 percent of the funds needed for the task. The City would then have to apply for 10 percent Transportation Development Credits (TDC) Department is a public agency transportation service provider and as such has determined that the current fleet is insufficient for service. Furthermore, the department’s transportation section has to constantly decline requests for paratransit services because vehicles are out of service and in need of repair.
