Services provided under the MOU will include the operation of coordinated demand-responsive paratransit service for the areas of Inglewood, Hawthorne and Lennox. The service consists of eight accessible vans and the I-Line trolley fixed route in the city. The city is also able to provide a discount cab service, through Transportation Proposition C funds, which subsidize the purchase of discount taxicab coupon books for eligible seniors and children. “Since 1986, the City has received funding from LACMTA from the Proposition A Incentive Program for improving transportation services across jurisdictional boundaries,” states the staff report. “Inglewood is eligible for this grant because it provides paratransit service to elderly and disabled residents of three jurisdictions-Inglewood, Hawthorne and Los Angeles County (Lennox).” For a 25 percent operating costs reimbursement of these programs, the city must meet 15 percent of the project’s total operating cost will be “allocated based on annual submittal of a timely and accurate National Transit Database (NDT) report,” which must be conducted by an independent audit.
