February 16, 2017 Page 3 Hawthorne Happenings News for the City of Good Neighbors from City Clerk Huber A Made in Hawthorne “Cold One” If you have been a loyal reader of my column, my solution of every problem that you might be facing is to relax, breathe easy, and go home and have a cold one. “A cold one” implies the consumption of an alcoholic beverage but it doesn’t have to be a beer. Your favorite cold one may be a lemonade or an ice tea. Good news! Now we can have an alcoholic cold one that is brewed right here in Hawthorne. The very first craft brewery will be open for business this week. The grand opening of Los Angeles Ale Works will take place this Thursday, February 16th at 3:30 p.m. The brewery’s owners have been working on the renovation of the warehouse located at 12918 Cerise Avenue for the past calendar year. Like the commercials always say, please drink responsibly. I say, be responsible and don’t drink if you can’t handle it. Another Big Rain Storm Free Sand Bags A drencher is on the way and is forecast to hit Hawthorne this Friday. If you need to shore up your property and prevent your garage from flooding then here is a chance to keep you dry. The City of Hawthorne is offering free sand bags to residents. A dumpster full of sand and the bags are located on the street in front of our city maintenance yard located at 12501 Truro Avenue.
