That has been a wonderful experience with me.” The initial donations collected will be used to help families in District No. 1; however, any leftover donation items will be donated to the Salvation Army or some other nonprofit to help in the city. “I like serving with a council that has a purpose and our purpose is to serve the public and that’s what we’ve been doing,” Councilman Dotson said. “I just feel that this is my gift to my community and my constituents; top help those that are in need.” People interested can donate food gift cards or gift certificates from local stores or any place that persons in need can obtain food for Christmas. For persons interested in donating toys, it is asked that they donate such items but that they remain unwrapped. Donations can be made at the Police Community Center on the corner of 7th Avenue and Manchester Avenue, at Darby Park located at 3400 W. Arbor Vitae as well as at Holly Knolls on Crenshaw [apartment house complex]. Each location has boxes set up for people to leave donations. • “The whole idea is to help each other.
