Team 2a, “Every One Counts,” proposed a labeled as thoughtful designs, neither of the proposed art projects were considered to be “consistent with the original scope, budget and timeline for the project.” “Staff with support from the Arts Commission recommended the art team refine the design incorporating the four versions of the three options, as they all capture the creative inspiration the City is seeking for the park,” states the staff report. “Additionally, staff recommended the footprint of the mural be contained to up to three walls and that the colorful lines not reach the ground and be painted at six inches or above to preserve the life of the paint and deter vandalism.” Upon completion of the design the creation of the mural will kick off. The mural is scheduled for completion by Aug. 21 and will be followed by a dedication ceremony of the artwork with a reception to recognize the youth and art team. In addition, the group will host an art display to showcase the work on paper as part of a community reception and dedication on Aug. 29. “The Arts Committee recommended contracting with Adwin David Brown and Christopher Mercier as Art Advocate and Lead Artist, respectively, for the CAMP project,” states the staff report. “Brown and Mercier, via short form agreements, have been working with the 25 youth since June 29.” Community Invited To Enjoy Movies Under The Stars Sponsored by the City of Inglewood Parks, Recreation and Library Services and Public Works Department, residents are invited to join Movies Under The Stars at Darby Park, 3400 W. Arbor Vitae, on Saturday, Aug. 15 beginning at 6:30 p.m. This weekend’s free, family-friendly event will show “Maleficent,” the story of one of Disney’s many iconic villains. Starring Angelina Jolie, this story of a revenge-driven fairy angry enough to curse an infant is sure to entertain the entire family, is one of the moviemaker’s most popular films. Movies Under The Stars was launched on July 18 with the showing of Annie and will finalize its summer season on Aug. 29 at Edward Vincent Jr. Park, 700 Warren Lane, with the screening of “Home.” Attendees who provide 10 recyclable items will receive a free popcorn voucher. Seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. There will be refreshments available for purchase.
