Within one day, someone in Northern California recognized the couple in the photo, Safiullah Jabar Khil & Halimi, and LAX was able to reunite the album with its owners. By Cristian Vasquez Inglewood’s mayor and city council approved an amendment to Agreement No. 13-105 in order to have on-call consultant services for the city’s Hollywood Park project. The original agreement, with Atkins Global North America, Inc., was approved on Aug. 13, 2013 as a bi-party agreement with five firms, including: Bureau Veritas North America, Inc., Harris and Associates, Interwest Consulting Group, CSG Consultants, Inc. and Atkins Global North America, Inc. The multiparty agreement was established to “set forth the rates and general scope” of the work required to complete the city’s biggest construction effort in years. As part of the city’s attempts to successfully complete the Hollywood Park project, on March 7, 2014 the city agreed to a deal with Atkins Global North America, Inc. to provide “specific on-call consulting services for Hollywood Park Infrastructure related to plan check, inspection and engineering,” states the staff report signed by Senior Economic and Community Development Manager Christopher E. Jackson, Sr. In February of this year the council moved forward with the approval of the City of Champions Revitalization Project [COCRP]. Much like the original development project, COCRP was entered with the goal of creating a mixed-use development site. COCRP incorporated the original 238 acres of land and added the 60-acre site located just to the north. “The ‘Stadium Alternative’ allows for the development of a stadium with up to approximately 80,000 fixed seats and an an- cillary, multi-purpose, enclosed performance venue of up to 6,000 fixed seats,” indicates the staff report. Furthermore, the stadium alternative was designed to provide 25 acres of open space, along with a retail center of 890,000 square feet, 2,500 residential units and 780,000 square feet of office space. The project will also provide a new Hollywood Park Casino building, a 300-room hotel and four acres dedicated to a civic site. “Since the entitlement of Hollywood Park Tomorrow in 2009, the developer, Hollywood Park Land Company [Developer] has continued its due diligence to complete the necessary infrastructure planning, financing, and pre-development activities necessary to implement the Project in accordance with City approvals,” states the staff report. “These activities have included ongoing coordination with City staff.” Atkins Global North America, Inc. is now being retained by the city as its on-call consultant in order to provide services for COCRP Infrastructure Phase I, if needed. City staff is scheduled to return with amended agreements for Bureau Veritas North America, Inc., Harris and Associates, Interwest Consulting Group and CSG Consultants, Inc. in order to include their agreements with COCRP. Reward Still Being Offered For Information Leading To Arrest Of Murderer The $50,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person, or persons, responsible for murdering of Robert Hollis is still being offered, in hopes that the heinous crime can soon be resolved. Hollis, a 75-year old Inglewood resident and member of Faithful Central Bible Church, was discovered dead on Thursday, June 18, when Inglewood Police Officers were dispatched to his home. Upon entering his residence, IPD officers found Hollis’ lifeless body had been decapitated. The victim, who was fondly known as “Mr. Bojangles,” was almost legally blind and was well known in the community. Hollis served as a leader in his church’s choir, which required him to spend a large amount of time singing in church choirs. Due to the few leads obtained by IPD detectives during the initial phase of the investigation, as well as because of the nature of the crime, the IPD and the City of Inglewood reached out to the community for any and all information that would lead to the apprehension and conviction of those responsible. During the city council’s June 30 meeting, Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts requested that a $50,000 reward be offered in an effort to entice anyone with information on the case to assist police investigators. The reward is the largest monetary compensation ever offered by the city in its effort to solve a crime. IPD and the City of Inglewood encourage anyone with information regarding the crime to call the Inglewood Police Department at (310) 412-5246. For anyone who wishes to remain anonymous but provide information, the number to call is (888) 412-7463. •
