Page 2 March 26, 2015 Community Briefs SBJWC Benefit Fashion Show The South Bay Junior Woman’s Club (SBJWC) will host their 4th Annual Benefit Fashion Show, “Couture for a Cause” on April 11, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at the L.A. Harbor Masonic Lodge in San Pedro. This event includes a sit down luncheon, raffle and silent auction, with the proceeds funding $1200 - $1500 scholarships for deserving graduates from South Bay High Schools. In addition part of the proceeds go to three South Bay charities; Rainbow Services, Community’s Child and Friends of Torrance Exceptional Athletes. Tickets for the event are $50 per person, OR $450 per table of 10. Please help our youth by supporting their higher education. March is a great time to become part of the Red Cross. It’s easy. Household members can work together on a preparedness plan. People can sign up to take a class or volunteer their time. They can give blood or make a financial donation. The Red Cross responds to nearly 70,000 disasters a year in this country. It provides 24-hour support to members of the military, veterans and their families; collects and distributes about 40 percent of the nation’s blood supply and trains millions of people in first aid, water safety and other life-saving skills every year. Williams of Inglewood, California passed away on March 10, 2015 at the age of 69. He was a lifetime member of the Rancho Cienega Tennis Club (RCTC). Robert is survived by his daughters, Paula (Brett) Hayes and Risa (Byron) Franklin; his grandchildren, Kaela Williams, Jayden Hayes and Camden Hayes; his siblings, Queen Esther Hawkins, Amos Williams and Joanna Williams-Willis; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A private funeral and memorial service are scheduled.
