January 31, 2019 Page 5 Original Simple Coleslaw Provided by Madeline and Luella Ingredients • 4 cups thinly sliced cabbage (green or purple, or a mix) • 1 carrot, grated (large holes of a box grater) • 2 green onions, thinly sliced on the diagonal • 4 Tbsp mayonnaise • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard • 2 teaspoons cider vinegar or wine vinegar • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (more to taste) Directions • We mix the condiments together, then we gently fold  the mix into the vegetables.  • We added extra mustard and cider vinegar for a bit more zing. • Send us a photo and recipe of your favorite dish. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 6:00 P.M., a Public Hearing will be held in the City Council Chambers, 4455 West 126th Street, Hawthorne, California, 90250 to consider Resolution No. 8045, approving an amendment to the franchise agreement between Allied Waste Services of North America and the City of Hawthorne. This amendment will affect the rates Allied charges to its customers in the City for solid waste and recyclable collection and for other services. The proposed amendment will make the following changes to the franchise agreement: 1) The portion of Allied’s rates that are currently indexed to the CPI for All Urban Consumers as well as PPI and tipping fee will instead be indexed only to the CPI for Water, Sewer and Trash Services; 2) Allied will be authorized to charge the City for certain services to City owned facilities that had previously been provided without charge for a limited term; and 3) Allied will provide additional free bulky item pick-ups up to 20 items per year to residential and multi-family customers upon proper notification. Other provisions of the Allied Agreement will remain in effect. The proposed amendment does not involve any significant changes to manner of providing solid waste and recyclables collection service. As a result there will be no changes to the impacts evaluated in the August, 2012 Mitigated Negative Declaration.
