Mamacita Sully Happy Tails Congratulations to Beanie and his new family. Flora Beanie is the little Shih-Tzu mix that required four surgeries over the course of two months to totally remove all of the foxtails he had. His folks had previously adopted MSFR’s Timmy, a tiny poodle mix, in 2006 but sadly he passed away a couple of months ago from kidney cancer. Their little five-year old female Malti-Poo (Maltese/Poodle mix) named Pixie missed Timmy and everyone was so lonely and sad. Well, it was love at first sight when Pixie and Beanie met and Mom and Dad jumped right in and joined the love fest! His new mom held him and cuddled him while tears of joy streamed down her face. Definitely sealed the deal. Since his folks are retired and have lots of time for their furry kids, let the fun and adventures begin! Beanie now lives in Azusa and we wish all of them much happiness.• Precious Pooches return to being the loving, affectionate little gal that I am. I’m back to my regular weight of nine pounds--just the perfect size for cuddling. I get along great with other dogs, but I’m just as happy to be your one and only.” If you’re interested in Mamacita, please email info@msfr.org for more information. “My new name is Flora, which is of Latin origin and means flower. It’s absolutely the perfect name for a tiny, 10-pound gal, as I continue to bloom under the care of my foster folks. I have to tell you that when I was found by animal control and taken to an LA County shelter, I was nothing short of a mess. I had to be placed in the medical building because of a We are looking for volunteers to help with our pet adoption fairs which are held every Saturday at the Petco located at 537 N. All of the folks at Miniature Schnauzers and Friends want to thank you for your support and wish you the Merriest and Happiest of holidays! “For a five-year old female Shih-Tzu/Terrier mix, I’ve had quite the busy life. My name is Mamacita and please don’t ask me how I ended up out on the street and very pregnant. It’s a good thing that animal control found me and took me to the shelter when they did or I don’t know what would have happened. The day after I arrived at the shelter, I gave birth to my four puppies…but sadly, only two survived. Sigh. Obviously, I wasn’t getting adopted any time soon and I am so thankful that the MSFR angels took all three of us into their homes. They helped me with my babies and made sure that their veterinarian checked us out. Once I quit feeding my pups, I made a quick trip back to the vet for a dental and a procedure to make certain that I won’t be having any more litters. Now I can relax and disgusting and painful skin condition. I won’t get too graphic, but the sores and inflammation were so bad I didn’t even want to be touched. I certainly was not adoptable in that condition and that’s when the big-hearted MSFR folks rescued me. They took me straight to their veterinarian where several different skin tests were performed and the final diagnosis was that my condition was called demodectic mange--and I also had an ear infection. Thankfully it’s not contagious, so I just spent a few days at the animal hospital receiving treatment. Amazingly, I responded so well that I was looking and feeling much better after only one treatment and a medicated bath. I should be all healed and ready for my new home mid-January. It’s been a bit of a rough road for this four-year old, female, purebred Miniature Schnauzer, but I know the best is yet to come! If you’re looking for a petite youngster to share your life, I’m definitely the sweet gal for you. I even get along with other dogs, but do just fine by myself.” If you’re interested in Flora, please email info@msfr.org for more information. “Hi, my name is Sully, just like the pilot that landed the plane on the Hudson River back in 2009. Well, I’m no pilot…but for a nine-month old, male Miniature Schnauzer mix, I did my best to steer my sister in the right direction while we were on the streets. There was a very kind person who saw us scrounging for food in the alley and fed us for about week. We realized that being on our own was not only unsafe, but that youngsters like us needed real homes to thrive. That’s how we ended up at an LA County shelter as strays. Luckily, the nice folks at MSFR rescued us and are helping me find my forever home. My sisters have already been adopted and now I can focus on doing the same. I’m pretty much a work in progress--don’t know what a leash is for--but I’m a quick learner and respond well to affection, kindness and chicken! I really need a home with another dog because I love to play and need a pal to show me the ropes. I’m only 14 pounds, so I don’t take up much space; I’m very eager to please and could be your best friend.” If you’re interested in Sully, please email info@msfr.org for more information. •
