Community Briefs Thomas Lynch, a scout in Troop 713 and a senior at El Segundo High School, earned his Eagle Scout rank on August 25, 2016. Thomas designed and built a terrace and planted succulents for the Eagles Nest Preschool to solve soil erosion problems. Thank you to both Mr. Perez and Ms. Andradre Grijalva, El Segundo Unified School District, for helping throughout the entirety of the project. The American Red Cross urges eligible donors to give the lifesaving gift of a blood donation in December--a time when donations decline but the needs of patients remain steady.  Donors of all blood types are needed this holiday season to help ensure a sufficient supply for hospital patients. To encourage donations, all those who come to donate December 22, 2016 through Jan. 8, 2017 will receive a longsleeved Red Cross T-shirt, while supplies last. Free Rain Barrel Distribution at The Forum on December 20 Catch the rain when it hits with a free rain barrel from West Basin Municipal Water District (West Basin). California has been in a statewide drought for five years, and likely a sixth. In response, West Basin is increasing public conservation and education by hosting no-cost rain barrel distribution events throughout the South Bay this fall season to qualified residents in the West Basin service area.
