Pictured here is 12-year-old winner Evelis Hernandez and Raytheon volunteer Chanea Banks, with her prize of a bicycle. Other winners received iPad Minis and iPod Touches. In addition, Raytheon SAS presented the Club with a $5,500 donation. El Segundo, Wiseburn Finalize Construction Budget for Aquatics Center The City of El Segundo and Wiseburn Unified School District – in partnership with South Bay Sports, Health & Recreation – have finalized the $13.8 million development and construction budget to complete the El Segundo Aquatics Center, an Olympic-caliber facility at 300 Duley Road. The center will be funded with $6 million from Wiseburn, $1.8 million from the City, and another $6 million from private sponsorships and public fundraising. Fundraising efforts launched more than 60 days ago, with over half the total $6 million raised. Richard Lundquist, business leader, philanthropist, and CEO of South Bay Sports is spearheading the campaign to supplement funding. Continental Development Corporation, Kinecta Federal Credit Union, The Los Angeles Lakers Foundation, Skechers, Mar Ventures, and Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Community Briefs Ulric Ramirez Earns Kiwanis Good Citizen Award On Monday, August 8 at 8:04 a.m.,  Ulric Ramirez  was standing in the alley near his garage when he observed an unfamiliar male subject walking through the alley in his direction.  Ramirez  returned to his garage, but noticed the subject did not walk past him. Ramirez returned to the alley and entered the neighboring apartment carport. He found the subject inside the carport standing next to an open storage locker holding a bottle of car oil. Ramirez asked the subject if he lived there. The man answered that he did and that he was doing an oil change and needed oil. Suspicious of the situation, Ramirez took a photo of the subject with his cell phone camera.  At this time, the owner of the storage locker entered the carport and stated he did not know the subject.  As Ramirez was looking at his phone to call the police, the subject used his upper body to forcibly bump into him and then threw the bottle of oil at  Ramirez.  Ramirez  called the police and began to follow him.  When police arrived,  Ramirez  provided them with the photo.  Officers located the suspect and Ramirez identified him as the same person he saw in the carport.
