Committees from page 2 TV Committee was dissolved/transferred due to a lack of a quorum or participation in the group,” Councilmember Don Brann said. “Members resigned, passed away or didn’t sign up and the work of the committee could not be sustained.” Despite the occasional snag in fleshing out a full group, Boyles pointed to volunteerism as one of the hallmarks of El Segundo. “Our vitality is largely shaped by the strength of our community pride and our strong sense of helping others,” he said. “Volunteers for civic endeavors like these ensure we have a grassroots group of dedicated stakeholders that help the city develop solid, grounded, achievable and successful programs. The latest shining example of the strength of volunteering involves the folks that rallied behind the vision, strategy and ultimately the plan for the realization of the El Segundo Aquatics Center.” • On Friday, June 17, at 4:03 a.m., Carrie Sanchez was awakened by a loud noise coming from the parking garage below her apartment.  Sanchez looked out the window and observed a male suspect peering into a vehicle window, while trying to open the driver’s door. The suspect then attempted to enter two other vehicles, but was unsuccessful. She also noticed an unfamiliar vehicle parked in the area. Believing this activity to be suspicious, Sanchez called the police. When officers located the suspect, Sanchez positively identified him and his vehicle as the same seen in her parking garage.  The suspect was found to be in possession of property taken from several vehicle burglaries. Carrie Sanchez’s assistance led to the arrest of an auto burglary suspect. – Provided by the El Segundo Police Department. •
