While they were there they met and had lunch with a number of Kings’ players. Finally the teams whirlwind three days before the games were to start ended at the Dockweiler Youth Center for a party sponsored by the Los Angeles County Lifeguards. For members of the Macedonia team it was an eye-opener since most of them had not been to an ocean before. Thanks to the hospitality, generosity and the unselfish commitment by hundreds of volunteers behind the scenes in El Segundo the Macedonia and Barbados teams were treated like the true gifted athletes they truly are.   The Special Olympics World Games started this past Saturday and ends this Sunday. The games were distributed throughout the Southland  including at UCLA, USC, the Convention Center, the L.A. Live Lucky Strike, Belmont Pier in Long Beach, Griffith Park Equestrian Center and the Balboa Sports Center in Encino. • El Segundo Mayor Suzanne Fuentes address the athletes at Mattel.
