Page 2 July 20, 2017 EL SEGUNDO HERALD Surplus of Taxpayer Money? The blaring front page headline in the El Segundo Herald (July 6, 2017) tell residents of more rate hikes for sewer users despite the fact the city announced a few weeks ago it had a three plus million dollar surplus of taxpayer money! Residents of El Segundo should never have to pay any sewer tax because their ultra high property taxes fully and completely pay for all service, repair and maintenance of the sewer system. That’s one of the reasons we have property tax - that’s why we pay property tax - that’s one of the reasons property tax is so high. If the City Council would quit wasting the taxpayers money on stupid ridiculous nonsense - like paying for million dollar toilets on a county owned beach, digging a 32 million dollar dirt hole on Douglas Street - a street that starts nowhere and ends nowhere - and building a totally worthless three story parking lot that costs the taxpayers seven million dollars, better known as a monumental legacy to political lunacy and wasting $500,000 on a water well that was never dug, then maybe the residents and taxpayers wouldn’t have to pay the filthy El Segundo sewer tax. Thieves specifically target SUVs (particularly the Chevrolet Suburban/ Tahoe, GMC Yukon/Denali, Cadillac Escalade) to steal the third row seat. As seen in a recent ABC News video, it only takes a criminal seconds to steal your seat. You will be left with potentially a broken window/door lock and the expense of replacing the seat which can cost you hundreds (or thousands) of dollars. ESPD recommends that owners of SUV’s with third row seats remove them when they are not needed and store them in a safe location. If you must leave the seats in your vehicle, consider parking so the rear doors are close to a solid object such as a wall or garage. Parking in this manner may make it more difficult for a thief to remove the seats as they will have difficulty opening the rear door. – Source: ESPD See Police Reports, page 14
