Page 6 June 18, 2015 EL SEGUNDO HERALD School Spotlight from page 3 gets their own moment to express themselves as they walk toward the crowd, in their moment of transition from student to graduate! The whole time, family and friends of the graduating students were crying, and taking videos and picture. They were so proud as they watched their graduate walk, and you could see the joy in their eyes. When each name was called, it was obvious who the graduate’s family was because you would hear excessive cheering from one specific area. One of my favorite things was watching this cheering; so gleeful and proud, it brings tears to the eyes. After all the names were called, everyone ran down to the field to greet their loved graduate. They would run up and hug them, and stare, so proud yet at the same time wishing time could reverse, and they could relive all the memories with their graduates. Friends hugged, and all of the graduates were happy and talking to each other with wide, perpetual smiles, and a frenetic energy, almost as if they are little bunnies pouncing amongst the field. It was completely bittersweet. We know class of 2015 will do wonderful things in the near future, but school is not going to be the same without them. We cannot imagine walking through the halls without their faces present. We will miss you! Congratulations to the El Segundo High School class of 2015. • Community Briefs Grades of Green VERTE Event Hilarie Murad and Dr. Murad, Loralee Murad, and VERTE environmental advocate honorees Chrissy and JD Roth, walked the Green Carpet at VERTE 2015, a Grades of Green event held at Manhattan Beach Studios Media Campus.
