It was the first time in more than a year that a Broncos pitcher had tossed consecutive complete game shutouts. James finished the season with a team-high 166 1/3 innings pitched and led the team in wins. James also led the Broncos with 14 complete games and tied for the team-lead with 35 appearances and two shutouts. She took over the mantle of staff leader at the end of March. She saw her ERA go down in 13 of her final 16 games of the year. Lars Nootbaar had an illustrious high school career in both football and baseball. Nootbaar had a batting average of .438, with 27 RBIs, and eight homeruns in his senior season in 2015. He was the Ocean League MVP, First team All-South Bay, First team All-CIF, and First Team All-State in 2015. Had he elected to play football in college he had a distinguished career for the Eagles. He helped lead them to a league title his senior year, was selected to the All-CIF team and ranks third on the all-time passing list at El Segundo. Nootbaar continues his baseball playing and education for the University of Southern California where he has started in more than half of the team’s games. He hit his first colligate homerun against Arizona State in the Trojans win over the Sun Devils. Nootbaars’ transition from an infielder for the Eagles to center field for the Trojans was natural and he has popped some eyes with his play Grant Palmer was a four-year starter for the El Segundo Eagles at shortstop. Over his four years, he had a career .398 batting average and 33 doubles both put Palmer in the top five in the program’s history based on total at-bats. He was selected to All- League, All-South Bay and All-CIF teams a number of times. Palmer was one of the top quarterbacks in the South Bay for two straight seasons before an injury derailed his senior season. Palmer accepted a scholarship to play his colligate baseball at UC Irvine. Connor Underwood was a two-year starter for the Eagles where he excelled at first base as well as behind the plate. He was an All- League selection for the Eagles as well as an All-South Bay selection. He had a career batting average of .397 in two years and led the team in home runs his senior year. Underwood played for the El Camino College Warriors this year and started in 36 of the team’s 37 games. He helped the Warriors to a 24-13 record where he was one of the conference’s top rated catchers. Underwood led the team and the conference with five sacrifice fly balls. Nick Martinez was a three-year starter for the Eagles where he played second base, third base and left field. Nick played for three different Eagle coaches in three consecutive years. After graduating, he attended West L.A. College where he continued his baseball playing days. This season Nick was one of the team’s top defensive players with the third best fielding percentage.
