JIM MARAK City Council from front page on how to divvy up the work, with nary a one asking for a switch or reprieve. Here’s how it all breaks down: The five Council members will serve as either main delegates or alternates on a total of two dozen agency and standing committees as well as a few other groups. Brann will be the City’s primary delegate for the Independent Cities Association, League of California Cities, South Bay Youth Project, and Blue Ribbon Bicycle Advisory Board. He’s also the alternate for four other positions. Fuentes, who as Mayor must take on additional workloads as part of her leadership role, also serves as the delegate for the City Selection Committee, Los Angeles County Sanitation District 5 & SBC, South Bay Cities Council of Governments, City/School Affairs Committee, Disaster Council, Centennial Celebration Committee and Aquatics Center Subcommittee. Mike Dugan is the point person for the Hyperion Citizens Forum, Independent Cities Risk Management Authority, Southern California Association of Governments, Golf Course Subcommittee and Investment Advisory Committee. Mayor Pro Tem Drew Boyles will be the Council liaison for the Senior Citizen Housing Corporation Board, West Basin Water Association and LAX Area Advisory Committee. And Carol Pirsztuk will assume a role with Reach Out Against Drugs (ROAD), Contract Cities Association, and the Technology Subcommittee. Though the latter two Council newcomers will “get their feet wet” with only three main assignments, they will also serve as alternates for a combined 10 of the groups in the event the main representative is unable to attend. And as it happens, there is one holdover from the recent past: Carl Jacobson, who just retired from the City Council after 24 years of service, will still retain his longtime spots on the Los Angeles County West Vector Control District (the term expires this December), LAX Advisory Committee (joining Boyles and Dick Croxall) and LAX Roundtable. Sometimes you can’t mess with a good arrangement, especially when the guy is more than happy to stay on, knows his stuff and in these particular cases does not have to be on the Council to continue. “It’s all part and parcel of being on the El Segundo City Council,” Brann said of the various assignments. “I commend Mayor Fuentes for working out the details and handing out the jobs that fit with each of our skill sets and prior experiences. Sometimes it seems like all we do is attend meetings and events, but I will say that it’s always interesting and the big payoff is that it helps the City we all love. After all, that’s what we’re here for…” • Visit us online: www.heraldpublications.com BRE# 01359453 We Work Hard Everyday to Exceed Your Expectations! ✱ FOR SALE - 1735 S C R O W AVIATION BLVD., REDONDO BEACH Beautiful I town N E home, corner unit. 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths.
