Kiwanis Good Citizen Award On Thursday, February 23, 2017, at 2:23 a.m., Michael Chandler observed a female seated behind the wheel of a vehicle. Two males exited the vehicle and walked away. Due to the late hour, Chandler believed this activity to be suspicious. He called police to report what he had witnessed and provided a description of the individuals, the vehicle and paper license plate. When officers located the vehicle, they found it to be stolen and there were numerous burglary tools inside.  Chandler’s assistance led to the arrest of the female for auto theft and possession of burglary tools and the male for suspicion of burglary. Club members, who also went out at lunchtime getting signatures from fellow students, decorated the thank you card presented to each department. They also expressedtheir appreciation for all that the public safety personnel do to protect and serve the community. Last spring, the Builders Club presented goodie bags filled with candy and a personalized thank you card to all of the police and fire employees. – Photo and Content Provided by Matthew Gallon, Kiwanis Advisor to the Builders Club • ESHS Class of 2017 Takes Walk Down Memory Lane Students in El Segundo High School’s (ESHS) Class of 2017 will put on their caps and gowns for the first time on June 2 and walk to the elementary school from which they got their humble beginnings over a decade ago. The elementary school students and staff will line the hallways and corridors to welcome and congratulate the alumni. On Friday, June 2, Richmond Street School’s “Senior Walk” will take place at 1 p.m. and Center Street School’s will begin at 1:15 p.m. ESHS seniors will walk from the high school to either school as a group with teachers and administrators. Students walking to Center Street School will walk through the district preschool (located at the El Segundo Unified School District main office) while picking up Arena High School graduates at approximately 1 p.m. The event is a way for seniors to remember just how far they have come while inspiring the next generation of Eagles. “After a successful inaugural event last June, the entire school community is looking forward to this year’s walk down memory lane,” said Robin Espinoza, ESHS director of student activities. “When an elementary school teacher sees a former student in cap and gown they glow with pride, parents may well up with tears, and the students stand just a little bit taller knowing they are inspiring the next generation.” For more information about the ESHS Senior Walk, please contact Robin Espinoza at respinoza@esusd.k12.ca.us. – Photo and Content Provided by El Segundo Unified School District
