Jon was born in Santa Monica, the first child of Frances and Harry LaMar. He grew up in El Segundo, California, where he played sports and was active in the Boy Scouts. He graduated from ESHS in 1964. Jon graduated from Stanford University in 1973 with a degree in Anthropology. While at Stanford he volunteered for the Army and became a medic. He served in Vietnam with a Medivac helicopter unit stationed along the DMZ. Jon eventually returned to the South Bay where he worked in construction, building maintenance and air-freight transport. Jenny was affectionately called the Acacia Street Gang Queen growing up and will always be fondly remembered by us all. She valiantly battled an illness that ultimately overcame her and she entered eternal life peacefully. She is survived by her brother Tom Soto, sister Jody Soto Schneider, sister Judy Soto Brindle, niece Jill Horne and nephew Tyler Soto. Our loss means Jenny will be reunited with her husband Randy Sifton who passed away, after a long battle with bladder cancer, in 2005. A reflection of her life and a time to celebrate the dash in her life, that began on October 30, 1952 and ended on March 21, 2015, will be celebrated this Saturday, May 2. The reunion and celebration starts at 2pm and runs until 6pm at the El Segundo Moose Lodge, 514 West Imperial Avenue. Unknown suspect(s) wrote graffiti on a sidewalk An identity theft report was taken at 0940 hours from the 300 block of Main Street.  Unknown suspect(s) used the victim’s personal information to establish phone, internet and cable service One male adult was arrested at 1215 hours from the 700 block of East Grand Avenue for plain drunk in public A grand theft report was taken at 1714 hours from the 1500 block of East Palm Avenue.  Unknown suspect requested and received money from the victim by posing as a relative.  Total loss was $3,600 An annoying phone call(s) report was taken at 1840 hours from the 2100 block of East El Segundo Boulevard.  Victim received annoying and profane text messages from an unknown suspect A violation of a domestic violence restraining order report was taken at 2216 hours from the 100 block of Virginia Street.  Suspect violated a restraining order by calling the victim and going to the victim’s residence Three male adults were arrested at 2309 hours from the 400 block of South Sepulveda Boulevard for theft by false pretenses and conspiracy to commit a crime • Sports Shorts Matt Marak wins his race. Jon loved long backpacking trips in the Grand Canyon and exploring the mountains and deserts around Southern California with his friends. Jon devoted the later years of his life to caring for his mother. He would not spare time or effort to make sure she was well taken care of. Jon is survived by his mother Frances, brothers Corey and Guy, sister-in-law Bärbel, niece Iris, nephew Evan, many cousins on both the LaMar and Smith sides of his family, and the many good friends he made throughout his life.
