Robin Twitty, who has choreographed shows for the El Segundo Recreation and Parks’ Youth Drama Program, is the choreographer. Allisa Klein, a former Young American, will serve as vocal director. This production is an “open” school musical, which means that band, drama and choir students are encouraged to audition and participate, as well as athletes and other students whose schedules might not accommodate performing arts classes on a regular basis. Based on Shepherd Mead’s 1952 satirical book of the same name, Frank Loesser adapted his book into an even more satirical musical. The story is about J. Pierrepont Finch, an ambitious young man who, with the help of the book How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, rises from window washer to chairman of the board of the World Wide Wicket Company. The musical has been revived several times since was first staged in 1961 and has starred A-list celebrities such as Matthew Broderick, Megan Mullally, and Daniel Radcliffe.
