A few months ago Phife from A Tribe Called Quest died, he was a member of a  ground-breaking hip hop group that recorded a song called “I Left My Wallet In El Segundo” which would be the whole reason an entire generation had heard of this town, I wrote your publication twice regarding the significance of his passing and you chose not to report it. Maybe national news and how it is relevant to the local community isn’t your thing. I live on Grand Ave and frequently see children bombing down the hill on their skateboards through a very dangerous intersection and always think to myself “it’s only a matter of time before someone gets hurt”. Well not once  but twice in the last few weeks someone got hit.  This would have been a great time to illuminate the problem, warn children and parents of how dangerous this is, highlight how seriously injured the daredevil got, mention  the fines incurred legally or even suggest ways of doing this somewhat safely.  Once again I saw no mention of any of this in the paper. Lastly recently three or four El Segundo High School students were involved in a few masked “stick ups” and surprise surprise you were mute on the subject. I did read your Super Bowl review though, thanks. – Garvan Cavanagh Letters
