It was the day we were to celebrate Gabel Solomon. Gable has been a custodian at El Segundo High School (ESHS) for 35 years, and is beloved by generations of students. Every day, Gable comes to work with a smile on his face and a diligent attitude. The gym was decorated in blue and gold, with streamers everywhere.  The stands were full with students, faculty, staff and the band was playing, while cheerleaders danced. The famous throne was waiting for Gable, sitting in the center of the gym. As the students waited with anticipation, Gable walked in thinking something needed to be open with his keys. When he walked in, to his surprise, balloons dropped and everyone began to cheer. There was a big smile on his face as he went and sat on the throne. ASB President Lexi Griffin, opened the ceremony with a speech explaining the “Winter Pep Rally” was a surprise for Gable! Then, there was a slide show/video that honors Gable; in the video, ESHS principal Mancilla says how See School Spotlight, page 11 Yearbook teacher David Reed presented Gable with a framed picture signed by the staff and the yearbook is dedicated to him this year!  Gabe Soloman takes in all the love and appreciattion.
